VAM WaterTech designs, assembles and installs water treatment systems. VAM WaterTech has an engineering department and employs a team of process designers. Part of the main components used by VAM WaterTech are purchased at the world’s leading suppliers and consequently assembled into a complete functioning system.

Why choose for VAM WaterTech?

In a world of ever increasing demands, each market calls for specific solutions. Therefore, specialized and reliable partners for each step of your production process are much needed. VAM WaterTech is situated in Zeeland, which is an important agricultural area in The Netherlands. Aside from specialized knowledge of water treatment, VAM WaterTech has hands-on knowledge of the products, cultivation methods and the needs and wishes in agro-food processing. This makes VAM WaterTech the ideal partner for the agrifood sector. VAM WaterTech has almost 20 years experience in the field of agro-food water treatment.

Why do I need water treatment?

Aside from care for the environment, water treatment also provides significant cost reduction resulting from less water usage, the absence of discharge costs and less maintenance and wear to machinery. Last but not least, by continuously using clean and disinfected water, food safety, quality and shelf life are greatly improved. In times where socially responsible entrepreneurship becomes increasingly important, it fits a company to use water in a responsible and sustainable way.

How do I benefit?

Cost savings on water consumption, no discharge costs, higher production yield and an edge in product quality and food safety, which distinguishes you from your competitors. In addition, you no longer need settling tanks, which saves time, costs, and the use of valuable terrain.

How does water treatment work?

Water treatment consists of different steps ? Each step the water is purified more profoundly. First the rough parts are separated, the sand removed and then the suspended particles such as clay and loam are removed. By then the water is visually clear and the germs and bacteria have been removed for 80%. In the following steps germs and bacteria can be entirely removed. A final step can be added to reach the quality of drinking water. The entire process is fully operated through an intelligent system of measurement and control, and is therefore functioning autonomously. For more information, please ask one of our specialists.

Is washing with clean water better for my product?

Yes. Washing with clean water removes bacteria, funghi and e.g. residues of pesticides much better than when the product is only rinsed afterwards.

Where can the sludge be disposed?

The sludge can be put back on the farm land.

Where can the sand be disposed?

The sand can also be put back on the land. In many cases it can also be used as building material for construction.

Do I still have to discharge water?

No. You don’t have to discharge any water. When you choose to discharge anyway, it will be clean water from our process.

Are the flocculants harmless to people and environment?

Yes. The products that we use are completely safe for people and the environment. Our coagulant is KIWA-ATA certified. We are also at an advanced stage in the development of a bio-based polymer.

Isn't flocculant expensive?

The cost of flocculant consumption ranges from 4 to 15 cents per m3 of purified water, which is a fraction of the cost of water (1 to 1.50 € / m3 purchase, excl. discharge costs). Additonal benefits: food safety, quality, durability, less maintenance and wear and no disposal costs.

Can a water treatment system be integrated in every situation?

I all cases we have encountered so far, yes. If you are unsure whether it is suitable for you, please ask one of our specialists. Many situations are constructed in a unique way and we are the right partner to provide you with a custom-made solution.

Do I need to possess knowledge about water treatment myself?

No, a general technical knowledge is sufficient.

Do I need to hire an operator for my water treatment installation?

No, thirty minutes of monitoring per day is sufficient.

How much will my water use proximately become?

We can reduce your water usage to 5% of your current use.

How are bacteria removed from the water?

Through sieving and forced sedimentation we already remove 80% of the bacteria and pesticides from the water. Through accelerated oxidation by an ingenious combination of ozone and UV the remainder is further removed.

Isn't ozone harmful to humans and the environment?

No, tests by Wageningen University have shown that ozone is not harmful to the products or the environment. Direct inhalation of ozone by people is harmful. However, the ozone is administered in a closed system. In case of leakage, the ozone installaton is automatically stopped.

What is the energy consumption of the installation?

This depends on the capacity and performance of your installation. All process components are selected and set in an energy efficient way.

What are the total costs of the water treatment?

Between 10 and 30 cents per m3 water treated.

Can I make use of subsidies?

Yes, different subsidies are available per country or region. We gladly inform you about the possibilities.

How much surface area and height do I need?

This depends on the capacity and performance of your system. The standard design can already be placed on approximately 30 m2, with a height of about 4 meters. The entire system is designed according to the specific possibilities at your location.

Can a water treatment system be easily expanded?

Oftentimes yes, and since the basis already exists it is relatively simple.

Does the installation have to be built indoors?

Yes, this is preferred. However, with appropriate measures, part of the installation can be placed outdoors.
